“Hold On To” by Mia Kelly & Nick Loyer // Both Mia Kelly and Nick Loyer (A Leverage For Mountains) have been staples in the Ottawa folk music scene for years. Their heartfelt collaboration began in 2019 and is finally being put on record with the new single “Hold On To”, their first recording together. [Website]

“reciters” by summersets // The new album small town sunday serves as the companion piece to 2020’s small town saturday by songwriters Kalle Mattson and Andrew Sowka a.k.a. summersets. Set in fictional Northern Ontario (Mattson and Sowka are both from Sault Ste-Marie), small town sunday begins with a character’s daydream, “one Sunday morning I’ll be miles away…” We’ve selected the opening track to add to the #ottmusic weekly playlist. If you like what you hear, stream and purchase the entire album on Bandcamp. [Bandcamp]

“Tale” by KAR33M & Asuquomo // Two of the most-blogged-about artists on—KAR33M and Asuquomo—collaborated to produce this banging track, so you can imagine how excited we are about this release. Here’s hoping this won’t be their last collab. We’d love to hear an EP (or more!) from this hip hop duo. [Soundcloud]
