“Mind’s Made Up” by Terrence & The High Flyers // We’ve been sharing singles from retro-rockers Terrence & the High Flyers since they launched the band in 2020! A year later, they’ve just released their second full-length album. “It’s not a happy record but it was a necessary one for me,” says songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Terrence O’Brien. This feeling of lost love can be felt and heard throughout the album but is best embodied by the song “Mind’s Made Up”, a soft tune about the realisation and acceptance of a relationship’s last moments. “Gimme More Bass” by Andrew Cassara // Capital Music Awards “Artist of the Year” and “Album of the Year” nominee Andrew Cassara just released a fresh new 7-track record, Move That Body. Save the new album on Spotify, then watch Cassara’s official music video for “Gimme More Bass” on YouTube. Recommended if you like The Backstreet Boys, retro funk and disco. [Website]

“The Game of Hip Hop” by Spitten Image feat. Masta Ace // Rolling back a year, 2020 Capital Music Awards “Enterainer of the Year” Spitten Image just released a new single featuring legendary American rapper Masta Ace. “The Game of Hip Hop” is our first taste of a new Spitten Image album due on July 1. “Revolution” by Cody Coyote // Hot off his win at the International Indigenous Hip Hop Awards (“Best Male Hip Hop Artist of the Year”), Ottawa-based rapper Cody Coyote has dropped a banging new single. Cody Coyote is one of most prolific artists we know in Ottawa today, as evidenced by his five songs which appear in #ottmusic weekly—more than any other artist—since this playlist project started in 2020.
