Started as a simple initiative to get local songs playing on the City of Ottawa’s 3-1-1 phone line, the municipal #ottmusic program has grown to include new opportunities for music makers in the capital.
Recently relaunched, the program now includes three music initiatives: OC Transpo Busking applications, a new City Sounds playlist, and the original Music on Hold project.
Locally based musicians (living within 150km of Ottawa) are eligible to submit original music for one or all three opportunities using the same application form. This year’s deadline is Friday, March 27.
All submissions are reviewed by a committee of peer musicians and industry professionals from the area who will recommend music based on artistic merit, diversity, community involvement and content.
