Best Of: Apt613 readers name the best new restaurants, cafés and bars of a decade

By Apartment613 on March 6, 2020

Apartment613’s tenth anniversary #ottfood survey produced this list: The best new food joints to open in Ottawa-Gatineau since our community blog launched in 2009.

The *most* new restaurants, cafés and bars of an entire decade. That’s really what Apt613 set out to discover when the blog editors launched a “best of the decade” survey spanning 2009–2019.

Our process began with weekly open ballots, used to determine a short list of the most popular responses. Our final poll asked readers to vote from the short list, although write-ins were also accepted.

All the while, your responses fed into the long list. Every restaurant, café or bar on the long list is somebody’s go-to neighbourhood food joint—at least one reader’s favourite, if not more. We submit this list to the Internet in hopes it will one day lead a hungry reader to somewhere new.

A grand total of 1,354 readers—a quick google search says 18% of Hintonburg’s population—participated in this survey.

These were the best new restaurants, cafés and bars of an Ottawa decade.
