Organizers of this seventh edition of the event, scheduled for May 11–13 at the EY Centre, have released the initial line-up for the convention which attracts more than 40,000 fans of comic books, science fiction, horror, anime and gaming.

Leading the pack is Doug Jones who currently stars as first officer Saru in Star Trek: Discovery. Jones is also appearing on the big screen as The Amphibian Man in Guillermo del Toro’s Oscar-nominated The Shape of Water, this after working previously with the director as the title character in Pan’s Labyrinth.

His other credits include The Silver Surfer in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer and Abe Sapien, in the Hellboy franchise.

Also appearing at Ottawa Comiccon is action star, Jason Momoa. Momoa has gained fame as Khal Drogo in Game of Thrones, Conan the Barbarian and as Aquaman in The Justice League, a role he will soon reprise in his own film.

Fans of Star Wars will have something to chew on with the appearance of Joonas Suotamo, who assumed the role of Chewbacca in the latest instalments of the Star Wars franchise and will show up later this year in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The convention will also feature Laurie Holden from The X-Files and The Walking Dead; Sean Gunn, who played Kraglin in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 & 2; and Julian Glover, known for his villainous characters in Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, as well as Grand Maester Pycelle in Game of Thrones.

Beyond television and film, Ottawa Comiccon will also feature internationally-recognized cosplayer, Leon Chiro, who has produced and modeled costumes for several major gaming companies.

In all, more than 75 activities will be presented over the three days, along with dozens of retailers in the expo hall and the opportunity to view and purchase original works of art from Artists Alley.
