Orléans Craft Beer Festival

By Stephane Dubord on June 9, 2022

Quickly becoming the unofficial summer kickoff tradition in the east end, the Orleans Craft Beer Festival is back this weekend for its fourth instalment. Voted Ottawa’s favourite craft beer festival at the 2022 Ottawa Faces Magazine Awards, organizers have raised the bar (so to speak) with the number of local breweries and distillers at this year’s edition.

With three days’ worth of entertainment, running June 9 through June 11 from 4–11pm, there will be plenty of opportunities to sample the wares of the 20 local and nearby vendors on site while enjoying live music on the main stage in front of the Shenkman Arts Centre. Thursday features locals Hearts&Mines (5pm) and Double Experience (6:30pm), setting the stage for legendary Tragically Hip cover band Little Bones (8pm). Friday night sees Dueling Pianos playing a double set (5pm) before Thunder Bay’s The Honest Heart Collective makes their return to the festival. Judging from their previous appearance in 2019, their double set is bound to keep festival goers rocking, and their latest releases highlight their stripped-down, earnest lyrics and well-honed musicianship. Finally, Saturday goes even harder with East Coast Experience kickstarting the party at 3pm, followed by The Derringers’ classic rock and country mix, and wrapping up with Disco Inferno closing out the festival.

Of course, the available fare is not only in liquid form, as food trucks from Meatings Barbecue, Golden Fries, and Dottie’s will be feeding the masses between sips. Much like the festival itself, Golden Fries will be putting their award-winning pedigree on display as Ottawa’s Favourite Food Truck for three years running and Ottawa’s Best Poutine 2022.

Truly something for every taste, both on stage, and on tap!

Helpful tips to make the most of your festival time:

  • Make sure to get your tickets in advance ($27 Thu/Fri, $30 Sat, or $48 for all three days), as last year’s edition sold out—besides, tickets at the door are $5 more.
  • Plan ahead for your ride home, but keep in mind that the festival site is easily accessible and a short walk from public transportation.
  • If you want to save time in line, bring cash, which will make purchasing tokens much faster.
  • The event is 19+, so bring your ID to ensure you get to enjoy.
