Orléans Craft Beer Festival is back for another year—06.06.19 to 06.08.19

By Stephane Dubord on June 1, 2019

To paraphrase a certain recently wrapped TV series: Summer is coming.

While the weather has finally turned summer-ish, most folks in the east end know it isn’t officially summer until the annual Orleans Craft Beer Festival. Luckily, that magical weekend is finally only days away, kicking off on Thursday, June 6.

This year’s edition is offering up brews from 35 vendors, including quite a few from microbreweries in and around the region. Whether you’re looking for local Orléans fare like Stray Dog or Orléans Brewing Co., Ottawa options like Broadhead, Bicycle and Clocktower, or regional choices like Étienne Brulé and Tuque de Broue of Embrun, you’ll definitely find a new favourite among the offerings.

If you don’t actually like beer, you can still find something that fits your taste amongst the slew of wines, ciders, spirits and mixed drinks available, including Black Fly, North of 7 and Ernest Cider.

Friendly reminder: download your preferred ride-share app or plan a ride to get yourself home after your adventurous sampling.

Of course, any beer connoisseur knows that you don’t drink on an empty stomach, and the festival have got you covered. Meatings will be feeding the carnivores, Golden Fries will be satisfying your poutine craving, and Walking Tacos will offer a perfect pairing for your cerveza.

To add to the ambience, beyond food and drink, the festival has live music each night, headlined by Ottawa’s best Hip cover band Little Bones (Thursday), local rockers The MacLovins (Friday) and Thunder Bay’s The Honest Heart Collective (Saturday) coming back to town after their raucous appearance at The 27 Club last March.

Last year’s event sold out, so be sure to get your tickets in advance (and save a few dollars). Single day tickets are $20, but unless you have the tolerance level of a viking, there’s too much to sample in one day, so you might as well get a full 3-day pass for $35, and then pace yourself—and stay hydrated!
