A new haunt for Nutella lovers at downtown Sobeys

By Jenny C. Liu on September 16, 2016

We’ve all been there. Halfway through picking ingredients at the local grocery store to make a healthy-ish meal after work, the hunger hits you – the perfect justification for an indulgent pre-dinner treat. But alas, a chocolate bar just doesn’t quite hit the spot.

Now at the downtown Sobeys Urban Fresh on Metcalfe Street, a Nutella Café, devoted solely to the popular chocolate-hazelnut spread, is available to serve those exact cravings – and more!

Ottawa’s first Nutella Café officially opened on September 8, to the excitement of all dessert lovers around town – myself included. It boasts “an assortment of tasty items made with the ever popular hazelnut spread including pastries such as bombe, aragosta, zeppole and pizelle; all-butter croissants and danishes; fresh made-to-order crêpes and waffles; as well as yogurt parfaits and fruit skewers.”

After chatting with the staff, I decided to order one of their most popular items – the strawberry banana crepe. The crepe dough was light and not overly sweet, which paired perfectly with the fresh fruit filling and a generous amount of Nutella:

You can grab Nutella-filled treats and coffee at the Café every day from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Sobeys Urban Fresh (193 Metcalfe St.).
