New Commotions song “Trooper Strut” hopes the fourth is with you always

By Alison Larabie Chase on May 4, 2020

In honour of Star Wars Day today, May the fourth, Ottawa-based soul band The Commotions have released a new song called “Trooper Strut.” The band’s musical director Brian Asselin says, “We made the decision to put any releases on hold for the time being but after reflecting on it, we wanted to release our song inspired by Star Wars to help people smile during isolation.”

Assselin says the song, which he co-wrote with bandmate Jeff Rogers, offers “dancing storm troopers, an infectious groove, and powerful vocals” to strike fear into the hearts of rebel scum. “Storm troopers are notorious for their bad aim, but did you know they can still beat the rebels on the dance floor?”
