Treepot media has hosted a few evenings highlighting local shorts, one at the Bytowne last March and one at the Mayfair in Septermber. The events featured short films and music videos – work from the local community that Treepot is part of. “It started as a way to get our stuff on the big screen” says Jith Paul, owner of Treepot Media.
If you’ve never heard of Treepot, you might still know their work. They have done work with local favourites the Sound of Lions and they are involved in the locally-produced feature Thirteen Downs, which will open the Ottawa International Film Festival.
Treepot is extending their showcase to the popular Centretown Movies outdoor movie series. This Friday, August 10th Treepot is presenting a night of local film under the stars in Dundonald Park. This event will feature the best of their last two events and include work from locals Kristian Lariviere, Mylene Paquin, Karim Ayari, Kevin Friel, Valerie Holloway, Jith Paul, Craig Allen Conoley , Derek Price, Jeremy Kennedy, Jean-François Dufault and Nick Seguin.
They will also be showing some trailers for upcoming projects, including one for Thirteen Downs to give you a taste of what to expect at OIFF.
Admission to the screening is free, but there will be compilation DVDs available for purchase on site.
This event is just one of the screenings for Centretown Movies. You can catch the Muppet movie on August 11th, Julia and Julia on August 17th and Iron Man on August 18th. All shows start at 9pm. For more information visit the Centretown Movies website.
