On Friday March 2nd, you are invited to eat and drink for a cause.
Indulge Ottawa is hosting their annual soiree at Sala San Marco on March 2 to raise awareness and funds for Greater Ottawa’s chapter of Special Olympics Ontario. With the Olympics and Paralympics in Pyeongchang wrapping up and beach season a ways away, the timing of the event is perfect.
Special Olympics Ontario – Greater Ottawa (or SOO-GO as it will be known to keep my word count down) provides programs and activities for individuals with intellectual disabilities in the 613 community. It’s a wonderful association.
The ticketed Indulge evening features more than a dozen of Ottawa’s best food and beverage companies, plus live entertainment and both silent and non-silent auctions. Ticket sales, donations and auction proceeds fund program opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. In addition to supporting local athletes as they compete in provincial, national, and world games, funds raised also go towards hosting competitions in Ottawa.
“Indulge Ottawa was started with the goal of becoming a “fun” gala-style event geared towards young professionals. By keeping ticket costs low, and including so much with the ticket, we think it was one of the better valued events on Ottawa’s social calendar,” says event organizer Jason Hussak.
“Thanks to the tremendous support from some of Ottawa’s amazing food and beverage companies, attendees have the opportunity to sample from over 15 companies, without needing to purchase any food or drink tickets. When combined with amazing live entertainment, the opportunity to bid during our live and silent auctions, contests for favourite food and drink, a live photo booth, and more, you quickly realize just how much value you get for $60. With all funds going towards local Special Olympics programming, we expect the event to grow annually, and to be a popular event for the foodie community and the general population!”

Their 19+ Indulge event is a great way to spend a Friday night sampling (yes, samples are included in your ticket) delicious food and beer from local brewers like Dominion City, Beyond the Pale, Muskoka, Waller St., Brown Van Brewing, Big Rig and Collingwood Whisky plus restos like Mulligan’s and Central Bierhaus. The non-enforced dress code is business casual and there is a coat check.
So get a ticket, clean yourself up and support Special Olympics in our community by eating and drinking like a champion.
Correction: An earlier version of this article mistook Collingwood Whisky for Collingwood Brewery. Apologies to both Collingwoods!
