Thanks to the dance pivots at House of PainT, street dance battles are back and taking place on Fridays (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.) in September throughout Ottawa. Check out “Take It to The Streets” in a neighbourhood near you!
What’s it all about? Well, picture awesome dancers showing off their unique freestyle moves to great DJ beats at sunset with an audience made up of you, your friends and your family… and all of it done following health and safety guidelines.
Oh yeah, did we mention that the winner of each Friday dance battle walks away with 500 bucks? All ages. All dance levels. Newbies welcome.

Take It To The Streets organizer Samuel Kanza is pumped: “This is a totally fun and free way for everyone to get outdoors safely and share some good community vibes in September.”
Where can you catch all the action? Thanks for asking:
Friday, September 10 (6-8 p.m.): Britannia Park
Friday, September 17 (6-8 p.m.): South Fallingbrook Community Centre in Orleans
Friday, September 24 (6-8 p.m.): under Dunbar Bridge in Brewer Park, Old Ottawa South
6 p.m.: warm-up cypher (dance circle) with the community
6:30 p.m.: one-on-one all styles dance battles (three judges and a great emcee)
8 p.m.: wrap up cypher with the community
This is all made possible thanks to the generous support of House of PainT, the National Arts Centre, and Kitchissippi Ward councillor Jeff Leiper.
Let’s see your moves!
