Podcast: Holiday tunes and stories

By Jared Davidson and Asim B. on December 18, 2018

It’s that time of year folks! Whether you’re looking forward to celebrating with your family, getting away to a nice warm destination, eating turkey, ordering pizza, binging on ice-cream, making up, or breaking up, we’ve got a little something for everyone on this podcast episode. That is, if you like Canadian holiday tunes.

After sifting through my favourite songs for the holidays, Asim (painstakingly) narrowed down my list to just seven songs that I love to listen to during the month of December.

We kick things off with “It Snowed” by Meaghan Smith, who by the way gives awesome Christmas concerts. Next we have Sarah McLachlan’s “Wintersong,” followed by my favourite breakup-christmas song called “Merry Xmax (Says Your Text Message)” by Dragonette (it so catchy!).

Then you’ll hear some Barenaked Ladies, Diana Krall and Michael Bublé. The classics! Plus there’s a little Bob and Doug McKenzie in there with “12 Days of Christmas.”

In the giving spirit of the season, we’re giving you twice the podcast this week, with a bonus episode of holiday cheer!

In this special episode, Asim reviews the Jeremy Hotz show at Algonquin Commons Theatre. Spoilers: he enjoyed it, especially the crowd work.

To close the episode, Asim tells a holiday story and plays even more holiday tunes!
