Holiday craft show roundup 2014

The holiday season is packed full of craft shows – so many that you could hit one up every Saturday and Sunday from now until Christmas! Krista Leben, coordinator and co-founder of Urban Craft, has once again put together a curated guide of indie shows for you to hit up: the shows here feature hip handmade stuff that you (and everyone on your list) will love!

Capital Pop Up!
Saturday, November 22
The Bronson Centre, 211 Bronson Avenue

Capital Pop Up! popped up on the Ottawa craft scene earlier this year with their first show happening in the spring. They’re back for the holiday season with a collection of talented indie artisans. As a bonus, this show is raising funds for the Ottawa Food Bank. Shopping and charitable giving all in one spot!

Hintonburg Christmas Craft Fair
Saturday, November 22
Hintonburg Community Centre, 1064 Wellington St W

A staple on the holiday craft show circuit, the Hintonburg Community Association hosts a holiday show at their community centre each year. This show is a great place to check out emerging artisans, as many of the vendors at the show are often new to the craft scene.

Idle Hands
Sunday, November 23
St Anthony’s Banquet Hall, 523 St. Anthony St

If you’re into indie crafts, you’ll definitely want to check Idle Hands. The show features a great range of handmade & gourmet food makers, is well-curated and will undoubtedly help you find some new favorite artists and makers from around Ottawa!

The Savoir Faire
Sunday, November 30
The Aydelu Centre, 94 rue de Patrimoine, Aylmer

The Savoir Faire brings a little indie crafty goodness to the Quebec side of the river. Now in its third year, the organizers of Savoir Faire have done a great job of putting together a wonderful group of vendors. Take a trip across the bridge to check this one out!

Chinatown Craft Walk
Sunday, November 30
Raw Sugar Café, Shanghai Restaurant & The Daily Grind, Chinatown

For the past few years, several businesses in Chinatown have teamed up to put on a craft walk each holiday season. Tuck into Raw Sugar Café, Shanghai Restaurant & The Daily Grind and get out of the cold weather to check out some sweet goods.

Finders Keepers Craft Show
Sunday, November 30
Carleton Place Canoe Club, 179 John St., Carleton Place

Now in its second year, this new show out in Carleton Place brings together crafters and artists from Ottawa and the valley in the cozy confines of the local canoe club. Take a little drive down to Carleton Place and shop from a variety of artists while you watch snow fall on the river outside. A fun little day trip!

Urban Craft
Saturday, December 6
Glebe Community Centre, 175 Third Avenue

Urban Craft, Ottawa’s Craft Bash, features over 50 artists from Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto and everywhere in between. Nosh on Christmas fare at Auntie Loo’s Vegan Pop Up Diner, snag some gifts for everyone on your list, and listen to some modern holiday beats!

Saturday, December 13
Knox Church, 227 Elgin St.

Rounding off the craft show season this year is Craftalicious on Elgin St. This fantastic show features a wide variety and range of vendors, including several who don’t exhibit anywhere else during the holiday season.
