Head for West Records’ Showcase Series is entering its second year with its 14th installment at the end of September. The show will again be hosted at Live! on Elgin and features a packed bill of Ottawa’s rising musical talent. The Showcase Series was founded to support Head for West’s mission to overcome many of the obstacles faced by new acts and expose some of Ottawa’s untapped artistic potential.
“When we started in August of 2017, our main goal was really just to showcase Ottawa talent and give bands a chance to play for a larger audience… the goal was always getting them shows, getting them started and getting them to stay in the local scene,” says Adam Moore, co-founder of Head for West Records.
The label stands by its commitment to support burgeoning artists by ensuring all admissions proceeds are split equally among all performers, regardless of their popularity.
By pairing up smaller acts with local heavyweights, Head for West is aiming to expose concert-goers to new material while slingshotting promising artists forward in their career – a strategy that co-founder Matt Francis explains is essential to overcoming the wall many artists face when establishing their fanbase.
