Local phenoms Sparklesaurus release their much-anticipated debut LP on Record Centre Records this weekend.

After Exclaim! put out “Sprinkle on a Cake”, a single from the self-titled Sparklesaurus record, devoted fans of the dreampop four-piece started counting days to an album release which is now only hours away.

Recorded on an 8-track in a band member’s living room, their first full-length arrives only after an impressive swell of support for the Ottawa band. Sparklesaurus emerged with Perennials EP in July 2016, earning the attention of Ottawa Showbox and Ottawa Beat, campus radio hosts, and festival bookers. A year and a half later, festival goers have had the chance to see Sparklesaurus live at all of RBC Bluesfest, Arboretum, Mirror Mountain, and Megaphono.

The indie band’s release show is happening alongside vinyl bins and a thrift pop-up at St. Alban’s Church on Saturday night, May 26. Special guests Keturah Johnson (Heavy Medicine Band) and alt-country project GINNY (my last album release Gig Pick for Apt613) round out a magic bill. Top talents, through and through.

If you still haven’t bought a ticket, just watch Sparklesaurus play “No Lux” live in the player below.

Sparklesaurus is performing with special guests GINNY and Keturah Johnson at St. Alban’s Church (454 King Edward) on Saturday May 26, 2018. Tickets cost $10 online and $12 at the door. Get concert info and rsvp to the upcoming show on Facebook.
