Gig Pick: Michael Feuerstack album release at St. Alban’s Church—10.20.18

By Greggory Clark on October 18, 2018

Contest: Win a vinyl copy of Natural Weather and two tickets to the show at St. Alban’s Church on Saturday, October 20. A winner will be selected randomly and contacted before midnight on October 19. To enter, leave a comment with the correct response to our skill-testing question. Q: Michael Feuerstack is what kind of gentleman? a) Sentimental b) Instrumental c) Experimental d) Accidental.

Known for his albums of eloquent, wistful indie folk, Michael Feuerstack was recording music for more than 20 years before The Globe & Mail wrote him up as a “national treasure” (as though he’d been recently unearthed!). The Ottawa-born songwriter is at St. Alban’s Church on Saturday—where he performed recently as a member of Julie Doiron & The Wooden Stars—this time for his Natural Weather LP release show.

Feuerstack will be joined by Erika Angell (keys, voice), Laurie Torres (drums), Elizabeth Powell (bass) and Camille Delean (voice) to play songs from Natural Weather, which was released by Forward Music in May and very recently pressed to vinyl by Record Centre Records.

The local vinyl-only label is operated by The Record Centre on Wellington St. West and as already amassed an impressive catalogue of releases including new records by Amanda Rheaume, Merganzer, Hilotrons, MonkeyJunk, Bonnie Doon, Telecomo, Sparklesaurus, Lynne Hanson, and JW Jones.

Michael Feuerstack is performing w/sg Her Harbour at St. Alban’s Church (454 King Edward Ave) on Saturday October 20 at 7:30pm. Tickets cost $13 online and $15 at the door.
