Fresh off winning Pop Album of the Year at the 2018 JUNO Awards, Lights will be making her way to the Algonquin Commons Theatre on April 4 for a night full of synth-pop infused rock melodies. Opening for her will also be past JUNO Award winners Dear Rouge and DCF.
Following her September 2017 release of Skin & Earth, Lights embarked on a 44-stop tour throughout North America, and will be performing one of her final sets of the tour in Ottawa.
Lights will be sure to tear the roof of the Algonquin College Theatre, as her live shows always incorporate lasting visuals and endless energy.
Her latest record is one that builds off of previous works, maturing and progressing towards a reflection of herself. To accompany the album, Lights drew and wrote a 6-part comic book as a passion project. The album looks at several large concepts, the main one being mental health. In a past interview, Lights mentioned “I think there was a time I would have been [afraid to talk about it], but now, the way things are today, people need to talk about mental health and need to be open about it and have a conversation about it.”
Dear Rouge will also be performing on the night, the duo of Drew and Danielle McTaggart will showcase their immense musical chemistry. The Vancouver-based electro rock outfit have spent the past 6 years building quite the reputation in the Canadian music scene.
Lights will perform at Algonquin Commons Theatre (1385 Woodroffe Ave) with special guests Dear Rouge and DCF at 8pm on Wednesday April 4, 2018. Tickets cost $35–45 online. The Algonquin Commons Theatre provides universal accessible seating.
