Now ten years into her prolific music career, Béatrice Martin aka Coeur de Pirate has said countless times that releasing new music does not come easily, even to her, and that any tour could be her last since experiencing burnout at several stages in her life.
The 29-year old singer-songwriter has toured relentlessly, sometimes performing more than 200 concerts in a year. If you haven’t seen her perform live yet, don’t gamble on Coeur de Pirate touring for another ten years—get tickets to this show.
As evidenced in the clip below, featuring Loud, an up-and-coming Québecois hiphop artist, Martin’s sound has shifted a lot from piano-based French chanson to a more pop-oriented approach. However, I’d expect a fairly dynamic show at the Bronson Centre Theatre on Friday; with solo moments at the piano as well as songs with a backing band.
Coeur de Pirate is performing at the Bronson Centre Theatre (211 Bronson Ave) on Friday February 1st. Tickets cost $38–42 online.
