The show’s opener was Ontario’s own Robyn Ottolini, referred to in her bio as “the Eminem of country music.”
Robyn went viral in 2020 and was propelled into the spotlight with her song/video called F-150, written about an ex-boyfriend and the feeling you get when you see an ex in public.
She treated the audience to a fun medley of songs from her formative years, which included Smashmouth’s “Rockstar” and “Best of Both Worlds” by Hannah Montana.
Calgary’s Lindsay Ell brought her Want Me Back tour to the Bronson Centre Music Theatre last night. It is her first tour as a headliner and my first show back at Bronson since March of 2020.
Ell started playing the guitar at age 8 and writing songs at 10. She was influenced by guitar heavyweights like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Keith Urban and John Mayer. In fact, she made a track by track cover of John Mayer’s “Continuum” album in its entirety.
Lindsay will be co-hosting the 2021 Canadian Country Music Awards on November 29th. It was also recently announced that she will host the upcoming second season of Canada’s Got Talent in 2022.
Taking a minute to talk about the joy of things being back to closer to normal, having made it through difficult times, Lindsay then sang “Other Side of You”, from the Heart Theory album.
Heart Theory earned her a Juno nomination in 2021.
While she’s known as a country artist, Lindsay coaxes blues-heavy riffs and solos out of her Fender Strat.
Lindsay is riding high as the most nominated woman artist for the upcoming 2021 Canadian Country Music Association Awards.
A survivor of sexual assault, Lindsay is using her reach as a platform for change, and recently launched the #MakeYouMovement with at-risk youth and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Learn more at the Make You Movement Fund.
Backed by an outstanding band, as seen during the song Castle, which was complete with extended jamming and a drum solo. Lindsay and the band were excited to announce that they have landed a coveted spot opening for Shania Twain at next year’s Boots & Hearts concert.
