“Sometimes, a revolution needs a woman’s touch.” – Marie Antoinette
In this sassy, hold-on-to-your-seats theatrical adventure, four beautiful, badass women hang out, murder Marat, and try to beat back the extremist insanity of 1793 Paris. This grand and dream-tweaked comedy is about violence and legacy, art and activism, feminism and terrorism, compatriots and chosen sisters, and how we actually go about changing the world. It is a true story. Or total fiction. Or a raucous resurrection… The Revolutionists is a call to action for all – grab your red sash and go!
Directed by Ottawa’s own Bronwyn Steinberg, The Revolutionists is stage managed by Louisa Haché with assistance from Jessica Sloan, and features Rebecca Benson as Olympe de Gouges, Cassandre Mentor as Marianne Angele, Victoria Luloff as Charlotte Corday, and Robin Guy as Marie Antoinette. Design by the award-winning Andrea Steinwand, Vanessa Imeson, Laura Wheeler, and Angela Schleihoff.
