Pierre Guitard

May 3 @ 8:30 pm10:30 pm

15

Winner of the 1st prize at the Granby International Song Festival in 2017, Pierre Guitard is a rising figure in the Acadian indie movement. Originally from Madran, New Brunswick, he made his stage debut in 2010,  and quickly was chosen to open for Jimmy Hunt and Hostesses d’Hilaire for the 50th Acadian Festival of Caraquet in 2011. He has distinguished himself in several popular competitions such as the Caraquet Song Gala (2013) and the Kedgwick Song Summit (2014). In the spring of 2016 he released his first album, The Stem and the Root. Alternating between country-folk and psych-indie, his first songs offered melodic hooks, preternatually lyrical hooks, and the kind of sophisticated humour usually reserved for much more established artists.

Now based in Montreal, he’s teamed up with Jesse MacCormack (Emilie & Ogden, Melanie Boulay, Rosie Vallan) and Guillaume Chartrain (Daran, Chocolate, BV300, Shane Murphy) for an ambitious new album due out in the fall of 2018. He will leave immediately on the road for a series of shows across Quebec, opening for respected artists such as Andréanne A Malette, Samuele, Emile Bilodeau, Philippe Brach and Zebulon, and then cross the Atlantic for a major European tour.
