An interview with Wes Marskell of The Darcys

By Chris Cline on January 17, 2013

Fans of Arts & Crafts records will want to catch the Ottawa Winter Jazz Festival on February 2, when Toronto’s The Darcys team up with Montreal’s Pawa Up First at the University of Ottawa’s Academic Hall. Let’s make sure we give them a warm welcome Ottawa, because both of these bands will be traveling long distances on treacherous winter roads to bring you some sweet sweet sounds.

I recently had the chance to connect with Wes Marskell from The Darcys by phone, and we had a great chat that covered topics like Jose Canseco’s potential Toronto mayoral bid and the best way to destroy their hometown. (Hint: the CN Tower gets it first.) Don’t worry, we covered music too. In fact, the band just wrapped up the third in a trilogy of records, which should make its way into our grubby hands this summer if luck is on our side. Don’t be surprised if the record breaks new sonic ground for the band, fusing sounds typically found in acid house and art rock.
