Cornerstone Housing for Women will be hosting a lively, fun and fresh Celtic Kitchen Party on June 15th at All Saints Anglican Church Westboro, 347 Richmond Road.
Sponsored by Flora Hall Brewing and emceed by Joseph Cull, the fundraising evening will feature the music of Ottawa Valley legend Kevin Dooley & Friends.
So, what’s a kitchen party?
A kitchen party is a popular celebration, traditionally held in one’s home, usually with a team of musicians singing, and playing the flute, drum, guitar, and fiddle. It is unfussy and inclusive – all are welcome just as they are, and everyone is encouraged to sing along, dance, and participate.
And it is hard not to sing and dance to Celtic music which encompasses Irish, Scottish and Welsh traditions, and has much influence in the music of the Maritimes. In addition to the lively music, there will be an Irish Dance lesson, a photo booth with Kelly Hotte Photography, poetry readings, prizes, excellent eats from McKeen Metro Glebe, wine by Savvy Wine, and a signature cocktail from Top Shelf Distillers.
