It feels like we’ve been dropped in the middle of a summer heatwave so this weekend is all about finding safe ways to stay cool.
There are some new outdoor activities to enjoy this weekend. We are now able to kick a soccer ball around, play a round of disc golf, shoot some hoops, or pop an ollie at the skate parks. Picnics are also now a thing. While we agree that this is very exciting news, please make sure that you enjoy these newfound freedoms safely and respectfully, while keeping your distance from others.
You may not have even realized it, but here we are, May 2-4 again and turning a corner weather-wise right on time.
The days are warming up, the sun is setting later, and flowers are beginning to bloom. While things are a bit different this year, there are still ways to enjoy some classic Ottawa moments.
A new month is upon us—and so is the weekend, for those of us who are having a hard time keeping track of what day it is anymore. Don’t worry, it’s understandable; we’ve been in physical isolation mode for how long now? Despite the challenges thrown our way, we adaptable creatures have taken this new “normal” in stride and there is still a whole lot going on—a safe distance from other people.
Some of us are over a month into this alternate normal of isolation, shaggy hair and bread making. As we settle into new routines, and are already dreaming of sunny patios and high fives there is no right or wrong way to be getting through this.
Here are some highlights from the last week on the blog and some things to look forward to this weekend.
Were it any other time but now, we’d all be rejoicing about the arrival of the Easter long weekend and an extra couple of days off of work but, for a lot of us, this past month has been the longest weekend ever.
Consider this part three in our new series of “how to spend your time when the days of the week all feel the same”.
If you have given up on dates and times, and are living purely based on feelings, join the club. Stay healthy, stay positive, and stay strong friends. We’re doing it.
This might be the first weekend that we are suggesting you don’t get together with friends and, rather, that you stay home, or at least as far away from other humans as possible.
In this liminal moment between Daylight Savings and the first day of spring we are presented with what looks like the perfect pre-spring weekend!
There’s definitely a theme to events this weekend: from breweries to public marches and everything in between, Ottawa is celebrating International Women’s Day, a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Welcome to a very special leap year edition of the Weekend Roundup! There is plenty going on around town to celebrate the occasion and, if you were short on ideas, we here at Apt613 have got you covered!
