Calling all technologically minded people: Apt613 is looking for a volunteer technical producer!

By Chris Cline on May 20, 2014

Hey there, loyal Apt613 reader. Did you know that we also produce a weekly radio show? Apt613 Live delivers all of the awesome local content that you’re accustomed to reading on our site, but in glorious high fidelity audio. Ok, maybe it’s just regular fidelity. The show broadcasts each week on CHUO 89.1 FM at 9 p.m. If we have our act together, you can also pick it via podcast or on our Soundcloud page.

Loyal listeners of the radio show may have noticed some changes in the last month. We now have two new and awesome producers, Michaela Francom and Esmerelda Smith-Romero, who are working hard to deliver great audio content each week.

Now we’re looking for technical people with audio editing skills to help us cobble the show together each week. We know that our reader-base is full of highly-skilled and intelligent people, and we’re sure that some enterprising person will step forward and volunteer their time.

The ideal candidate will have proficiency in an audio editing platform like Adobe Audition or Audacity. Familiarity with online platforms like WordPress, Soundcloud and LibSyn would certainly be a benefit. Experience in recording audio might also be helpful, but is not an absolute requirement.

We need the producer to help us for two to three hours each week, typically between Monday and Wednesday. This person might be called upon to select music, create content, or even speak on-air every so often.

How will the technical producer be compensated, you might ask? While this is a volunteer (ie. non-paid) position, we are willing to provide references and and buy you a beer from time to time. You’ll also meet a lot of interesting people, learn about the city you live in, and have a lot of fun!

If you’re interested, please send an email to apartment613@gmail.com with the subject line Technical Producer and a description of your experience in audio production.
