The ARTicipate endowment fund is open to new submissions. Founded in 2007, the local arts program supports the presentation of new works; English, French and bilingual art activities; and access to creation and performance spaces at the Shenkman Arts Centre.

One of last year’s grant recipients, ArohaFest, is the first bilingual festival celebrating the arts of India in Canada. ArohaFest 2018 featured dance and music, visual art, poetry, yoga, food, and bollywood workshops. ARTicipate allowed the organizers to expand programming into several spaces at the Shenkman Arts Centre. The next edition is coming up on September 20–21, 2019.

Local artists and arts organizations of all disciplines are eligible. Applicants must be one (or more) of the following:

  • an emerging or established professional artist
  • an incorporated, not-for-profit arts organization
  • a non-incorporated arts collective

Grant amounts range from $1,000–2,500 and must not exceed 50% of the total project budget.

The ARTicipate project grants are made possible by annual interest generated from the ARTicipate Endowment Fund. The fund grows through generous donations from foundations, government, individuals, local groups and businesses.
