Brew Donkey pays tribute to well crafted beer… labels?

By Jordan Duff on May 9, 2016

Hintonburg Happening is a nine day event that celebrates Wellington West’s community of artists and businesses. Not only is this neighbourhood home to great brewers and craft-focused watering holes, it’s also the home of Brew Donkey, Ottawa’s favourite brewery tour provider. Owner Brad Campeau, is using this HH festival to launch a new educational series that focuses on the artwork and label designs of local area breweries.

First up on Thursday May 12, is Beau’s Brewery. Beau’s has always had innovative packaging and design going back to the ceramic bottle days. Since then, their packaging and artwork has won the brewery numerous awards. Well crafted, inside and out. Four in-house designers from the brewery will be on-hand to answer questions about their label designs and discuss the creative process. In addition to snacks, samples of Beau’s beer will be served. Full details here.

Brew Donkey’s roomie, Maker House Co., are also getting into the HH spirit. Local artist and historian Andrew King will be sharing ghost stories on superstitious Friday, May 13th. Smores for the first lucky 100 guests will complete the campfire atmosphere. If you need a little liquid courage to get you through these spooky tales, Dominion City brewing and Split Tree Cocktails will also be pouring free samples. The event is free and welcomes all ages. Details are here.

Hintonburg Happening runs until May 14, 2016. Follow them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to find out more about what’s happening in Hintonburg.
