Today, RBC Bluesfest organizers announced the first slate of confirmed acts in their 2020 festival lineup. This sneak peek includes five names, headlined by soft rock surfer-singer-songwriter Jack Johnson, who will play Bluesfest on July 14, 2020.
Major label Australian songwriter Vance Joy, who was a support act for Taylor Swift and Pink on world tours, is also on the July 14 bill with Johnson. They’re joined by UK folk pop up-and-comer Jade Bird. She released her self-titled debut album earlier this year.
Taking a sharp turn out of singer-songwriter territory, American DJ and EDM producer Marshmello headlines on July 16. Local musicians awaiting Bluesfest offers should be quite excited by this news, because Forbes magazine says Marshmello is one of the highest-paid DJs in the world. Is this the year Ottawa’s most lucrative music festival will give local artists a raise?
Buzzy teenage rapper Lil Tecca, who broke out in 2019 with millions of SoundCloud plays, is also booked for July 16.
