Big things are happening behind the scenes at Apartment613. The board met for the first time this year on Feb. 9 and made some exciting plans for that’s likely to be another year where plans are… difficult to stick to. The biggest outcome of the meeting? Michael Bercier, Taylor Howarth and Morgan Waters were voted in as the newest volunteer members of Apt613’s Board of Directors!
Joining a dynamic group of Ottawa community champions, Michael, Taylor and Morgan bring unique perspectives and fresh ideas about how to best support the amazing community of readers, writers, artists, and cultural workers in Ottawa.
By way of introductions: Michael is a project management guy and also a touring bass player with maybe the best Instagram jams of all time (seriously, look him up). We know we’ll be able to count on him to roll up his sleeves and help us connect the dots wherever we need him, and we’re excited to have some artist representation at the board.
Taylor is a self proclaimed ‘process nerd’ who will help us stay organized and at the top of our game. She’s got a knack for big ideas, and the ability to boil them down to deliverables. She’s a great leader, good human, and owns a consultancy business helping social enterprises, which will be super handy skills at Apartment613!
Morgan joins us with a TON of amazing journalism experience (*cough*, like 30 years worth) and some really cool stories from her time working in Canadian cities and overseas in both London, UK and Doha, Qatar, where she was the most senior journalist on shift in the central newsroom for Al Jazeera English. She’s the perfect mix of straight shooter and team player and we’re stoked to have her on our board.
Stay tuned for more details on what these fine folks, and the rest of the volunteer board members, plan to sink their teeth into this year. If you ever need to get in touch, don’t hesitate!
