The 2nd edition of Baconpalooza will be held at the Canadian Agriculture and Food Museum this weekend, September 9-11, 2016. If you feel that bacon makes everything taste better or if you want to see some demonstrations by celebrity chefs and well known local chefs, this is the event for you! Hopefully PETA will not be demonstrating against the event this year like they did last year.

Friday evening’s special event, Bacon Bash, is limited to a smaller group of 500 people, with a higher entrance of $50+HST. For foodies, this include 9 different bacon-themed items by NeXT Restaurant headed by Chef Michael Blackie. There’ll be cooking demonstrations with Chef Blackie, Chefs Corbin Tomaszeski and Lynn Crawford, who you may know from the Food Network, and Chef Mike McKenzie of Seed to Sausage. Plus, there’ll be beer demos from the Clocktower and live Celtic music from Bang on the Ear.

Saturday and Sunday are more family friendly. The Kid Zone is open 9:30 am to 4pm both days with pig-themed crafts, story time, face painting, etc. Your ticket to Baconapalooza gives you site admission and you may be able to visit the museum during quiet times.

Food is front and center on Saturday staring at 9am with Bacon Bites breakfast, followed by 30 minute cooking demonstrations every hour on the half hour with visiting and local chefs.

If music is more your thing, Sunday has a roster of 6 bands from 11:30 am to close featuring Arms of the Girl, ilvekyo, The Bristol Hum, Cast in Cadence, Sarah Scriver and Lemon Cash.

The event has a Craft Beer Market featuring 6 breweries, and Albion Rooms will be offering Baconpalooza’s signature cocktail, a Caesar featuring Walter Craft Caesar Mix.  There’ll be food trucks, trailers and stalls from 11am to close, including The Grilled Cheeserie, The Merry Dairy, SmoQue Shack, and Stella Luna Gelato Cafe. A number of market vendors will be selling bacon-inspired and other goodies from 9am to close as well.

As an added incentive, you can use your ticket to get savings at some of the partner restaurants involved.

Tickets are available online. For more information, visit Baconapalooza’s website or the Facebook event.
