Emmanuelle Gingras

Bilingual Journalist

Emmanuelle is in love with Timothée Chalamet. She is also currently concluding her major in theatre with a minor in French literature at the University of Ottawa. She worked for three years at La Rotonde, the independent French newspaper of the University, where she discovered cultural journalism. She’s mostly interested in writing art reviews. Reflecting on women's artistic expression within the French-speaking minorities and different ways people transcend oppression, are part of her biggest concerns. This is clear in her artistic work; in both being a dramaturg and an art director, she always tries to break the barriers of elitism. Les Frivoles is a collective she founded in 2020, whose purpose is to democratize art within the Gatineau-Ottawa area. She is currently working as an educator for CALACS, an Ottawa based prevention and intervention centre for sexual assault. Emmanuelle is one of three bilingual journalist interns working with our organization in winter 2021-22.
