For his weekly podcast, Canadian music journalist Mackenzie Cameron goes “20 or 20” with special guests. That’s 20 questions or 20 minutes—whichever comes first.
In a recent episode, Cameron spoke with the Ottawa-based Nigerian hip hop artist Asuquomo, aka Morris Ogbowu. Last year, Ogbowu was awarded the Ottawa Arts Council’s emerging artist award and his record DIOBU earned critical praise from Ottawa Showbox to Pitchfork.
“I’ve wanted to have him on since the inception of this show, but he can be a bit tricky to get a hold of,” says Cameron. “It was worth the wait.”
You can find the series on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or stream Episode 23: Asuquomo in the player below, featuring songs from Asuquomo’s 2020 EPs OT Riddim and DIOBU, conversation about the Ottawa music community, and Asuquomo’s future plans.
Asuquomo is the first Ottawa-based artist to be featured on the podcast, which is produced by Canadian music blog DOMINIONATED. The show host says you can drop him a line at <firstname.lastname@example.org> with artist suggestions for their future episodes!
