ARTinis: The premiere east end event

By April Laramey on November 5, 2014

Looking for a night of art, music, food and drink? Luckily the Shenkman Arts Centre is hosting ARTinis, an annual fundraiser for the AOE Arts Council this Thursday. ARTinis celebrates the arts while allowing “business and community leaders to meet with artists and art supporters and to show their pride for the arts in Ottawa,” says Cristiane Doherty, Director of Communications for the AOE Arts Council.

In its seventh year, ARTinis 2014 will be a water-themed event complete with sound, lighting and special effects to create water walls, and water features by Mixed Media Group. The goal for this year is to raise $35,000, money which will go to support the Arts Council’s services, resources and programming such as the new Artist-In-Residence program Art Place.

Guests will get a chance to view a pop up gallery of artistic installations and will be able to meet the artists, including photography by Ruth Dick, a sculpture installation by Karen Goetzinger, mixed media by Zivana Kostic, a book arts and paper demonstration by Mary Kritz and video by Cheryl Pagurek.

Food will be plentiful with five catered food stations and three bars, and each ticket includes a complimentary drink and free parking. There will also be a silent auction and a raffle for two tickets for anywhere Porter Airlines flies.

With all this, it’s not hard to see why ARTtinis has become the premier event in Ottawa’s East end. As Cristiane tells us, “whether you are an arts supporter, a foodie or looking for unique arts evening ARTinis will satisfy at every level.”

ARTinis takes place at The Shenkman Arts Centre (245 Centrum Blvd) on Thursday, November 6. Doors at 6:30 pm. Tickets are $75 and are available online. For more info, please click here.
