This week on Apt613 Live, Jared hosts the entire show by himself! In addition to his unreasonably strange antics, we were able to snag two interviews this week. The first is with Gerry Paquette, Professor of Game Development at Algonquin College. In addition to other disciplines, Paquette teaches Algonquin game dev students about board games, something we are Apt613 are generally fairly enthusiastic about (though Katie often proclaims her annoyance with the game Agricola [though it may be because she sometimes loses at it]). We asked him to talk to us about the local board game scene, the benefits of teaching students about board games, and what sorts of board games he is currently working on.
Ryan sat down with the two guys behind Creative Mornings in Ottawa who are putting on a great show this week with Chef Matthew Carmichael, creator of the Mello’s pop-up restaurant. You can still get tickets to their event tomorrow morning (but you should hurry!).
We featured music from such acts as The Balconies, The Riptides, The Arcade Fire, The Dymaxions. The last half of the show we devoted to music from last years House of PainT. House of PainT features urban arts, hip hop, DJs, and they’re having their free kick off event this Friday at Ritual Night Club. In honour of the occasion, we played tracks from Timekode, Hyfidelik and Prufrock, Ikor Vein and Templedon.
You can catch Apt613 Live on CHUO every Wednesday night at 9. Tune in to 89.1fm or listen live at CHUO.fm.
