Apt613 Live for August 8, 2012

By Jared Davidson on August 9, 2012

This week’s show is jammed full of interviews and topical discussion!

Listen to it here or on iTunes!

Once again, Jared takes the reigns as the host of this week’s Apt613 Live. In the absence of authority, this week’s podcast runs wild into bizarre and unfamiliar territories.

First up, Katie joins Jared at Pub Italia to discuss the upcoming National Capital Craft Beer Week, all the while sipping delicious local ales.

Next, Jared visits the wild wilderness that is West Ottawa to interview Cam Sloan from Common Citizens, a band that lives by one descriptor: “chill.” Sloan takes us through the band’s history from hip-hop to electronica, and we discuss the evolving nature of the music industry and electronic music as a genre. Common Citizens’ record Ivory can be downloaded for free here.

To close out the hour, Katie talks to Emily Kennedy from DamnMag, an Ottawa-based socially-conscious music magazine that aims to highlight music and musicians that participate in positive social change. As of this writing, DamnMag’s Kickstarter is closing in on its funding goal! Its deadline is tomorrow, so if you’d like to be a part of this new concept, contribute now!

For the radio version of this show, tune in to CHUO 89.1FM every Wednesday at 9pm.
