If you’re interested in a little financial help to get your next artistic project off the ground, you may be in luck! The City of Ottawa’s new Equity and Inclusion in the Arts Fund (EIAF) is currently accepting grant applications for this year’s funding round.
The EIAF is a newly relaunched program that aims to make it easier for Indigenous and equity-seeking groups to access funding for their artistic projects by reducing financial barriers.
Applicants for all funding streams must be at least 18 years of age and a professional artist, cultural arts worker, community connector, or an elder or cultural keeper as recognized by their peers. There are different streams of project funding, depending on the nature of the applicant’s goals. The two main funding streams are Seed Awards and Grow Grants. Both programs are flexible and can be used to fund many different types of activities, as long as they relate to the arts.
Seed Awards are for individuals only and provide micro-grants for requests up to $2,000. The next deadline for Seed Awards is April 6, 2022. Grow Grants can be awarded to both individuals and not-for-profit organizations and provide funding for requests between $2,000 and $20,000. The next deadline to apply for Grow Grants is Nov. 10, 2021.
If you have questions about either funding stream, reach out to the city’s Cultural Funding Support Unit. They can help you fill out grant applications and answer any questions you may have. Good luck!
