If you’ve had your fill of chocolate eggs and want to get out and about this weekend, here’s what’s up in the city:
In music, the Steve Adamyk Band kicks things off tonight with Finderskeepers at Babylon, followed by Transmission dance party with DJ Male Nurse. If you’re looking for some traditional east coast music, Matthew Byrne has you covered at the NAC. Friday at Zaphod’s will find Ambrosia Famine, Arms of the Girl, and GingerFox putting on a rocky-pop show. House legend Jason Hodges can be found at Mercury Lounge, while The Atomic Rooster hosts a raucous night with Big Moan, The Glorious MoonRockets and BoneDevil. Timekode continues down at their new digs on Friday, while things will be a little more contemplative with The Olympic Symposium and Winchester Warm at Pressed.
Couchwrecked release their first album on Saturday night, while Legion of Saints, Mosely and Luke Ottenhof head down to the market. Babylon throws another Ohmyjam, while you can show off your musical talents out at an open mic in Kanata. Indie City Madness has a wild line up for Saturday, with Grand Theft Ottawa, Goodnight, Sunrise Black Market Candy and Elementals taking over Cafe Dekcuf.
Looking to have your music in spoken word form? Tickets are selling out fast for the Dramatic Reading of Pop Songs with CBC’s Evan Solomon and Amanda Putz tonight down at IdeaSpace. Raw Sugar hosts a record swap on Friday evening, if you’re looking to bolster your music collection. DJs will be on hand, of course, to keep records spinning all night!
Grab the smartest people you know for the 2nd Annual CAPE Scholarship Trivia Night on Thursday – there’s sure to be some tough – and obscure – questions on hand.
Capital Slam Semi-Finals start this weekend, stopping by Mercury Lounge on Saturday night to kick off their 10th competition.
