Summer is in full swing and there is plenty going on this weekend in our great city.

All Weekend

Head on down to Tom Brown Arena and Park for Westfest, one of Ottawa’s best free music festivals. Celebrating their 15th anniversary this Friday to Sunday, the festival features headliners Bear Witness of A Tribe Called Red, The Pursuit of Happiness, and Cody Coyote, as well as others including Bella Straight, & DJ Seiizmikk.

The New Art Festival returns for another year, this Saturday and Sunday in The Glebe. Nearly 200 artists—working in countless different mediums—will be judged by a professional jury. This free event takes place rain or shine, so take a stroll through Central Park this weekend to check out some of the best Canadian talent, some of whom are travelling from all over the country to be here.

Etsy Made in Canada is celebrating their 5th anniversary with its first-ever Spring Edition, this Saturday and Sunday at The Sensplex. 150 makers from Ottawa and the region will sell their creations at the event. There will also be a special night market on Friday—but make sure to get your ticket in advance.

Thursday

The first of a summer series begins this Thursday in Birling’s backyard. Freewheeling Craft presents Indie Craft Backyard Socials, a bi-weekly craft fair with 15 local vendors, food and drink, and a $2 entry fee which supports For Pivots Sake.

Friday

DJs B-Rad and Michael Caffery will turn a bookstore into a dancehall this Friday night at Black Squirrel Books. They bring the best dancehall music from 10pm onward.

Saturday

613Flea is back at Lansdowne Park in the Aberdeen Pavilion this Saturday. Go check out a host of great vendors with everything from handmade goods, to vintage gems, and tasty treats.

If the weekend has got you feeling like dancing, get on down to Get On Up this Saturday night at Bar Robo. DJ Geoff Paquet will be spinning all vinyl and, as always, there will be no cover.

Sunday

Now that the weather is incredible, enjoy a spectacular view at Rooftop Beats & Brunch at Andaz Ottawa in the ByWard Market on Sunday morning. Chef Stephen La Salle will be serving up his infamous “bite size brunch”.

The Capital region is full of some great public art and this Sunday you can hop on your bike to take it all in. A free Public Art Bike Tour will be cycling off from the Ottawa Art Gallery on Sunday morning, led by XOVELO’s Zara Ansar.

Finish off the weekend with Sunday Pintxos at Dominion City Brewing Co. on Canotek Road. They’ll be serving up Basque-style tapas by The Heirloom Kitchen and beer by, the one and only, Dominion City.

Well folks, that’s a wrap! Get out there and enjoy your weekend. Take lots of photos and be sure to tag them with #APT613. We love to see what you all are up to and we will throw our favourite photos from the weekend up on our feed!
