The Commotions hit Irene’s hard last Saturday night, were recently announced in the TD Ottawa Jazz Festival lineup, and now they’re treating us to a video for Volume II album cut, “Right Kind of Wicked”, premiered today by Apt613.
The new video finds members of the soul-pop band—fronted here by Jeff Rogers—getting into a take of a super catchy single off their latest album. It was directed by the band’s own Rebecca Noelle, and shot on set at Lenz Studio in Ottawa. The live performance factor catches The Commotions in their element, showcasing a horn section, tight drumming, top-notch vocals, and a ripping guitar solo.
Written by bassist Alex Mastronardi and bandleader Brian Asselin, the track conjures everything from Motown to Jamiroquai. We expect Jazzfest will be duking it out with the likes of Bangers & Mash, Bluesfest, and Westfest to book the band every summer. The Ottawa-based band are a barn-burning, booty-shaking joy. Watch the video below and see them live as soon as you can get to one of The Commotions’ upcoming shows.
