Video: “In The Drought” by Slack Bridges

By Greggory Clark on March 22, 2018

Still from “In The Drought” dir. Luca Fiore.

Do you recognize that Centretown spot? The local speakeasy where Slack Bridges filmed scenes for their new music video? *Spoiler at the 3:30 mark.* It’s an Apt613 favourite, first mentioned on the blog in 2012.

The fresh af Ottawa band premiered a new album on Apt613 last fall, and now they’re treating us to a video for “In The Drought” before an appearance at Bangers & Mash: Ottawa Soul Music Festival on April 14. PSA: the first annual Bangers & Mash festival sold out Black Squirrel Books and House of TARG last year… So don’t wait to buy tickets at the door.

Directed by local filmmaker Luca Fiore, the new music video pits bandmates against each other in a late-night board game battle. As evidenced by back-to-back games of poker, Sorry, and Dungeons and Dragons, Slack Bridges want you to know they go hard for games night. There’s light out when lead singer Matt Gilmour arrives late to the party…

Enjoy the video below and get out to see Slack Bridges live as soon as you can.

Slack Bridges will perform at the Bangers & Mash Festival on April 14. Passes cost $26 online for a lineup which includes Harea Band, Sarah Bradley, JFUN, The Bank Street Bonbons, Eru-Era, TAPAS, Trevor Walker, No Fancy Parts, and the L.G.R. Big Band. Shows are split between two stages at House of TARG and Black Squirrel Books.
