This week on the podcast, we’re talking with singer-songwriter Iskwé, who will be performing at the NAC on November 23rd.
The Winnipeg-born, Hamilton-based Iskwé has Cree/Dene and Irish roots, and her lyrics often address issues that affect First Nations communities.
“These are not just issues of native people. These are people problems. These are things that we all need to be participating in, and taking care of each other in.”
We ask her about the music she listened to growing up, the lessons she’s learned working in the music industry, and the role music can play in reconciliation.
This interview originally aired on CHUO 89.1FM on Tuesday, November 14th.
Tickets to see Iskwé at the NAC on November 23 are available online and at the box office. Show starts at 8:30pm.
