Podcast: On the police killing of Abdirahman Abdi

By Greggory Clark on August 10, 2016

In this new podcast, Ottawa-based activist Greg Macdougall shares a half-hour interview with Idil, a leader at Across Boundaries mental health centre for racialized people in Toronto.

Idil introduces sanism—a form of discrimination and oppression due to a mental trait or condition a person has, or is judged to have—to the circumstances of Abdirahman Abdi’s death at the hands of Ottawa police on July 24, and turns toward discussing intersectionality of racism and mental health, responses to police killings, and the conversation that is happening now with regards to Abdi’s death.

Greg Macdougall is a freelance reporter, educator and activist. This podcast was first published by EquitableEducation.ca where links to resources and references can be found. The interview is available for re-broadcast under a Creative Commons Attribution/Non-Commercial license.
