Parliament Hill skating rink is open this weekend

By Greggory Clark on December 8, 2017

Located on the southeast lawn of Parliament Hill, The Canada 150 Rink is now open until February 25. The decision to maintain the rink for 12 weeks means Ottawans and visitors will get to skate on Parliament Hill during Winterlude 2018.

Admission to the NHL-sized rink is free but you’ll need to make a reservation first.

The rink has seating for up to 1,000 people and, in addition to public skating hours, will host minor hockey clinics and games, sport demos and more.

Accessibility: The rink features universally accessible ramps located at the southern entrance and two ramps on the east side which lead into a tent with barrier free access within it. The rink will provide barrier free gate locations allowing the rink to host sledge hockey games and demos.

The Ottawa Senators will host an Alumni Game on December 15, pitting Team Alfie vs. Team Phillips and featuring a roster of the club’s favourite players from the last 25 years. Attendance is free.

There will also be a live viewing party on Parliament Hill of the NHL 100 Classic being played at TD Place on Saturday, December 16. Two massive video screens will carry the game live and commercial free. Hockey Night in Canada commentators will announce a portion of the broadcast, while a portion will be the TVA feed in French.
