Grey Cup Festival brings concert series to TD Place

By Terry Steeves on November 14, 2017

Grey Cup madness is set to hit the capital this month, and Ottawa wants to celebrate the Redblacks hosting the 105th annual sports showdown with the Grey Cup Festival: a week of festivities leading up to the main event.

From the arrival of the Grey Cup on Tuesday November 21 to the big game itself on Sunday November 26, the Grey Cup Festival will feature dozens of activities and events. Part of the hoopla will include a three-night concert series provided by TD which will feature a genre-hopping melange of music by an all-Canadian roster of some of the best talent this country has to offer. Tickets are $45.00 for each night, or full adult passes are available for all three nights at $104.50.

Thursday November 23: country night

The first night of performances inside the arena at TD Place will feature an all-country theme with opening bands, The Washboard Union and JJ Shiplett, followed by multi CCMA and 2017 Juno-award winner, Jess Moskaluke.

Friday November 24: alternative rock

The second night of performances will feature some of the best Canadian bands in the Alternative Rock category. Reuben and the Dark, and Dwayne Gretzky will kick off the night in advance of longtime Rock/Power Pop heavy-hitters, Sloan.

Saturday November 25: classic rock

The final night of the concert series will headline two of Canada’s most iconic bands, Trooper, and April Wine. Both bands with solid hits that have filled the airwaves for nearly five decades will serve as the Classic Rock icing on the cake.

Don’t forget to check out the dozens of other activities Grey Cup week has to offer, like tailgate parties of gargantuan proportions, a three-day pub crawl, cultural programming, community events, an outdoor family fun zone, a silent disco, a street festival, parties of all kinds, and plenty of music everywhere! Sunday’s Grey Cup will feature none other than Canada’s own Shania Twain during the halftime show. For full details on events, schedules, and tickets, please visit www.GreyCupFestival.ca.
