Gig Pick: Mauno at Irene’s—11.23.18

By Greggory Clark on November 20, 2018

Hot off recording their third album at Chad Vangaalen’s home studio, Mauno will soon be releasing yet another new record. While other Mauno fans eagerly anticipate its release, fans in Ottawa get to hear these new sounds before everyone else when the indie pop band plays Irene’s on Friday, November 23.

The last time Mauno came through Ottawa-ish was for Bon-Fire out at Rideau Pines Farm. Back in August, Apt613 caught up with Nick Everett gearing up for a weekend jaunt of three Canadian festivals, including stops at Sudbury’s Up Here Festival, Toronto’s Wavelength festival as well. In his interview with Apt613, Everett had just let on that Mauno would be premiering “three new songs that we’ve never played before for anybody.” Read the full interview here.

Watch Mauno play a set in the player below, recorded live by Audiotree in Chicago, March 2018.

Mauno is playing with Fenster at Irene’s Pub (885 Bank St) on Friday November 23 at 8:30pm. Cover is $12 at the door. See Facebook for more details.
