Special Pre-Festival Performance Double Feature, presented by Ottawa StoryTellers and Two Women Productions:

OST and 2wp are pleased to co-produce an inter-disciplinary program the weekend before the main Festival, offering two performances that stretch the bounds of storytelling.

The Little Iliad – Evan Webber/ Frank Cox-O’Connell This piece involves one actor having a conversation with a friend on Skype; a conversation that revolves around a story from an old Greek text called the Little Iliad. One friend tries to persuade the other not to go to Afghanistan. Although the story is told in the most colloquial of everyday language, somehow the tellers feel the ancient power and depth and contemporary relevance of this old story in the same way it is conveyed in more traditional storytelling performance.

The Disappearance of Left and Right – Danced by Peggy Baker, Choreographed by Sarah Chase Peggy Baker is one of Canada’s most renowned contemporary dancers. This piece is a series of small elegant vignettes from Peggy Baker’s family history and her own life through dance, music, and spoken word. The coherence of movement, voice, music and story offers a new perspective on storytelling.
