Women of the Forest Film Screening and Panel

March 7 @ 6:15 pm8:00 pm

Free

Just in time for International Women’s Day comes the Canadian premiere of ‘Women of the Forest’!

Women across Nepal’s vast countryside are working together to create green, sustainable businesses in their rural communities. These groups not only empower women in the country, but also serve as a blueprint for the Asian and international community on environmentally friendly collaborative innovation. The film focuses on the stories of women’s involvement in community forest groups from three regions of Nepal.

Join us for a screening of this documentary at Carleton University’s Richcraft Hall, followed by a panel discussion on what is next for female entrepreneurship in the developing world, featuring guest speakers:

Livia Bizikova PHD
Program Director, International Institute for Sustainable Development

Sarah Byrne PHD
Associate Researcher, University of Zurich
Governance Advisor, Heberas Swiss Intercooperation

Arjan de Haan
Program Leader
Employment & Growth, International Development Research Centre

Kathleen Kemp
Director, Centre for Social Enterprise Development

Entry will be by donation (pay what you can). All proceeds from the event will go to HIMAWANTI Nepal, a non-governmental organization creating training programs for aspiring female entrepreneurs.
