Wapikoni Film Screening – Indigenous issues and traditions

Please join us for a screening of short fiction, documentary and animated films produced by Wapikoni. Films are in Indigenous languages, English and French (all films are subtitled). Wapikoni is a non-profit organization equipped with mobile studios that “travel to” Indigenous communities and act as a place of assembly, intervention, and audiovisual and musical creation for Indigenous youth. The screening will be followed by a discussion with a filmmaker, invited speakers and the audience.

14:30 – 15:15 Part 1. Indigenous and social issues – Residential schools, violence, prostitution, alcoholism and addiction, depression, state intervention, missing Indigenous women.

15:30 – 16:05 Part 2. Aitun (Indigenous traditions) Traditional healing, dance, poetry, hunting, land preservation, arts, community policing.

16:05 – 16:55 Part 3. Discussion.
