Wakefield Doc Fest Weekend

September 22September 24

The second annual Wakefield Doc Fest (WDF) Weekend takes place September 22 – 24, 2017 at the Centre Wakefield La Pêche in Wakefield. Five excellent current documentary films over one weekend curated around a particular theme, along with our usual offerings of director visits and opportunities for discussion. And great food! For more info, check out wakefielddocfest.ca or in Ottawa pick up a brochure from the bulletin board at your local Bridgehead.
Were you fortunate enough to catch our first themed WDF Weekend outing last September, ‘Music: What It Is’…?
This time, we’re presenting ‘VISION – It’s more than seeing’ as our theme.
Vision is seen as a manifestation of rebellion in REBELS ON POINTE; as a lens-mediated contemplation of a life and career in CAMERAPERSON; and in THEATER OF LIFE, you’ll see a vision – glimpse really – of a more equitable and less wasteful world. Then, in MANAKAMANA it’s your vision, the audience member’s vision, that ultimately defines the characters and their actions; and finally DON’T BLINK – ROBERT FRANK wraps the weekend, a bio-pic of a man whose restless vision and art affected our view of ourselves.
Director Peter Svatek will be at the screening of his film THEATER OF LIFE on Saturday, September 23rd at 7:30pm.
Intrigued? Check out more detail at wakefielddocfest.ca or pick up a brochure around town in Wakefield, or in Ottawa, from a bulletin board at your local Bridgehead!
Tickets are $15 (inc tax) or $60 (inc tax) for a weekend pass. They are available online at wakefielddocfest.ca or at the door.
Don’t miss the 9th edition of our main Wakefield Doc Fest program, coming February 2018.
